Here is another yummy AND healthy recipe. It is sure to be one your family will love. This recipe comes from The Veggie Queen, Jill Nussinow. I, personally, have a copy of her book, The Veggie Queen: Vegetables Get The Royal Treatment. It has over a 100 recipes divided into the 4 different seasons. The recipes are delightfully delicious and clever. This recipe not only looks festive, but it is also a crowd pleaser.
I made two substitutions though. I used coconut oil in place of canola oil (it is the only oil I cook with). In place of the flour, I ground up quinoa (I try to avoid gluten as often as possible). (more…)

I think we all associate Thanksgiving with massive amounts of food. For ages, people have filled up on their Thanksgiving feasts, passed out after dinner, pigged out again for dessert, and then dealt with serious indigestion, weight gain, and plain old lethargy. This does not have to be you however! You can prevent yourself from overeating this Thanksgiving. Here are some helpful tips:
- Workout in the morning. You will get your metabolism moving, you will feel better about yourself, and you will likely follow suit with healthier choices.
- Eat a healthy breakfast (and lunch if you are eating a late dinner). Don’t assume (more…)

Are you suffering from the aftermath of Halloween? Experiencing a cloudy head, lethargy, muscle aches, drowsiness or insomnia, mood swings, uncontrollable sweet cravings?
Yes, you may very well be suffering from a candy hangover!
No, I am not kidding. Sugar has a tremendous impact on your body and can leave you in pretty bad shape. Not only does it weaken your immune system and leave you more susceptible to sickness but it also steals B vitamins and magnesium from your cells as your body tries to process it. In addition, sugar causes an inflammatory response in your body and forces your adrenals to release adrenaline.
It is no wonder you might not be feeling well today if you indulged for Halloween.
So, how can you recover? What are the remedies for a candy hangover? (more…)

Health for the whole family is incredibly important. As a result, my holiday gift to you is an interview I did with Dr. William Sears, creator of the Dr. Sears’ LEAN program, for the Women’s Health Empowerment TeleSummit. Please feel free to download the interview, save it, and share it with others. It is a gift for you… and is simply prefect since Dr. Sears does say that the greatest gift you can give is the gift of health!

Whether you are just beginning on your wellness adventure or a seasoned wellness enthusiast, herbs are important. Not only are they great for teas, but they have nutritional and healing qualities that can assist in achieving and maintaining optimal health.

Holiday season is upon us again! Many of my clients enter the season apprehensively though. While the festive holiday season may bring great joy, it also brings a lot of temptation and a lot of stress. Many find themselves short of the time they need to prepare wholesome meals and others find themselves at party after party filled with foods they probably would not eat otherwise. Here are a few tips to help you get through: (more…)

I know many of you, myself included, will be coloring Easter eggs with the kids this week. While it is very easy and convenient to use artificial food coloring (like the little pellets in the egg decorating kits), it is also easy to use natural dyes… and it is a lot healthier.
Many people see artificial food coloring as harmless. Afterall, why would they allow it in food in
food if it were dangerous? (more…)
